Following the release of his elegant, spectral debut album of piano and strings, UK composer Matt Emery (music page) plays an album launch show at the beautiful surroundings of St Pancras Old Church on October 4th, accompanied with a seven piece orchestra.

Aptly called "achingly beautiful“ by XLR8R, "Empire is built on deftly crafted pieces of poignant electronics and haunting instrumentation. With a combination of piano, strings, and more modern production techniques, Emery has poured a myriad of emotions into Empire."

Emery’s profile as a composer has benefitted from several placements across cinema and television; his music was used for the trailer of Anton Chekhov’s Seagull play, the highly acclaimed new adaptation that was directed by Matthew Dunster and showing at Regents Park Open Air Theatre in June-July 2015, trailers for the British Academy’s Literature Week in 2015 and 1883 Magazine's ‘Life Less Ordinary’ - behind the scenes photo shoot amongst many others. And despite Empire being his debut album, previous self-released singles have received radio play across many of the BBC’s music stations, KEXP and Amazing Radio.

An artist of many talents, Matt has done engineering work for other artists, mastering Kevin Devine’s ‘Live at St Pancras Old Church' album (Big Scary Monsters), 'Sofia Songs' (a Super Fan 99 Records compilation with covers of songs featured in Sofia Coppola films) and Nicholas Stevenson's 'Can You Bring a Camera' single for Record Store Day. He also hosts a podcast for Alcopop! Records, interviewing artists and leading music industry figures.
