What’s in a name? In the case of VLMV, many oblique things. Ostensibly a self-proclaimed ‘ambient-ish post-something” duo from the southern reaches of London, VLMV were recently known as ALMA until several cases of mistaken identity with a newly BBC Sound of 2018 nominated green-haired Finnish pop star necessitated a branding rethink.

Now they have – not quite literally – flipped their name upside down and come up with VLMV, which is still pronounced ‘ALMA’. Or if you want to be an enunciation enthusiast, ‘Uhl-muh’.

Under this new moniker the band have announced their new album ‘Stranded, Not Lost’ is to be released on Fierce Panda on the 16th February 2018. A collection of 10 new compositions from the band that perfectly recaptures the fragile, fragrant essence of their esteemed debut ‘ALMA’ album which hoovered up comparisons to fellow explorers Sigur Ros, Patrick Watson and Explosions In The Sky

‘Stranded, Not Lost’ is a gorgeous and moving record replete with the kind of brooding, ambient soundscapes, soaring vocals and crashing intensity that have earned the band a small legion of dedicated fans and tours supporting the likes of post-rock luminaries Nordic Giants.

“Building atmospheric and quietly epic soundscapes that creep up on you unannounced….like a beam of light through a dark, cold night.” - Lauren Laverne, BBC6 Music

“Alma create a shimmering soundscape of delicate ethereal beauty. Breath-taking in its scope and evoking imagery of the vastness of space.” – The Independent

“Atmospheric, ambient, complex and meditative” – CLASH

LUCY CLAIRE
https://www.lucy-claire.com/
Lucy Claire is a remarkable composer and producer, whose music fuses classical, cinematic and world influences. Her bittersweet piano motifs and melancholy string melodies, loaded with atmospheric soundscapes, along with off kilter harmonies and
deep and compelling structures, have often been compared to music by composers such as Nils Frahm and Johann Johannsson as well as post rock artists like Mogwai.

"A swell of strings that leaves you feeling suspended in a sea of melodies" – Drowned In Sound
“Extraordinary - a really complex, deep work” - Tom Robinson, BBC6 Music

DREAM LOGIC
https://dreamlogic-music.bandcamp.com/releases
Combining piano, strings, electric guitar and field recordings with drones and ethereal textures generated by lofi sampling and manipulation. Drifting between intimate melodies, warm ambient soundscapes and crushing walls of sound, Dream Logic creates an immersive, emotive experience.
